19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different events.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, took control to create a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
