Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the region, bringing strong winds topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services received 598 calls for help across the state, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

- Hoppers Crossing - various emergency calls
- Wyndham - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
